One tiny string can cause all sorts of havoc.

Whether you’re a parent or a professional, it’s incredibly difficult to watch a child fail to thrive. Perhaps you’ve noticed an infant struggle to eat, gain weight, or find relief from tummy troubles; or maybe it’s an older child who is sleeping restlessly, choking while eating, or exhibiting delayed speech.

All of these symptoms are more than just frustrating; they impact health and confidence, and they stand in the way of a child reaching his or her full potential. But there is incredible hope! In many cases, the culprit of these symptoms is one tiny string restricting a child’s tongue or lip, and, with proper education, the problem can be easily diagnosed and is often 100% treatable.

Dr. Richard Baxter is an internationally recognized speaker on tongue-ties, author of the best-selling book, Tongue-Tied: How a Tiny String Under the Tongue Impacts Nursing, Speech, Feeding, and More, and instructor of the acclaimed course Tongue-Tied Academy.

Hi, I’m Dr. Baxter.

Unbelievably, it wasn’t until after my dental school education, my pediatric residency, and my immersion into the dental field that I discovered my own tongue-tie.

The fact that I went undiagnosed through childhood and into my years in dental practice has helped me recognize that others were living limited lives because of their tongue-ties too—including my three daughters. Now, I’m on a mission to help parents and professionals easily identify mouth restrictions so those suffering can get the right treatment sooner. I invite you to use this educational site as a resource for your family or your practice.

When treated properly, children free from mouth restrictions can:

Eat

with fewer struggles.

Babies nurse and bottle-feed easier and older children eat more quickly and feel satisfied longer. Moms also report less pain with nursing.

Sleep

with fewer disruptions.

Infants and children often sleep more soundly as they can breathe through their noses, which can also improve behavior throughout the day.

Speak

with greater confidence.

Small children who are just learning to speak often form their first words with less difficulty, while older children speak with added clarity.

Does your child have a tongue-tie?

Babies and young children aren't able to communicate if a tongue-tie is causing problems with their eating, sleeping, and speech, but they do exhibit symptoms to help a restriction be recognized!

We've designed a simple online questionnaire to help you spot possible signs of a tie in your little one. It takes just a few minutes to complete and the results could change your child's life.
